The Menzenschwander Waterfall

Coming from Feldberg, the river Alb has eroded deep into the Menzenschwand valley. A deep gorge is the result with a corresponding waterfall in the Albschlucht. This waterfall is easily accessible and has a well developed path and viewing points. the path of the waterfall also forms part of the larger scenic Geissenpfad (goat's path) hiking trail, this trail passing through forest and alpine nature areas.

During the summer months, in the evenings of every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday the waterfall and path are illuminated by lights and it is possible to have a romantic walk in the dusk.

Paid Parking is available close by, access to the waterfall area is free.

The Todtnau Waterfall

The Todtnau waterfall is a breathtaking natural spectacle in the Black Forest, Germany. With a drop height of around 97 meters, it is one of the highest waterfalls in Germany and attracts visitors from all over the world.

The impressive roar of the water and the fine spray that spreads through the air give this place a mystical atmosphere. The waterfall springs from the "Feldberg" river, which originates in the area of the same name, the highest mountain in the Black Forest.

The Rheinfall in Schaffhausen

 

The Rheinfall - or Rhine Falls in English - near Schaffhausen is one of the most spectacular waterfalls in Europe and a popular tourist destination on the other side of the Swiss border, about an hour's drive from us. 

With a height of 50 meters and a width of around 150 meters, these waterfalls are an impressive sight formed by a significant drop in the river Rhine, plunging over large rocks, creating a huge spray.

The Rhine Falls are famous for their boat trips, which can take visitors very close to the water. The area surrounding the falls also offers hiking trails and viewpoints from which you can admire the natural spectacle from different angles.

The formation of the Rhine Falls dates back millions of years and is the result of river erosion, which over time shaped the rocks and created the waterfall. The islands in the Rhine Falls, of which there are three, also contribute to the spectacular scenery.

The waterfalls are particularly impressive in spring, when the snowmelt causes the Rhine's waters to swell. But at any time of year, the waterfall offers a fascinating experience for visitors from all over the world.

As it crosses a national border - don't forget your ID! On the way back, you can also take a detour to Stein am Rhein, which is famous for its well-preserved old town center with magnificently painted house facades.
